Toby Jug - A John Brothers original

• This unique Toby Jug was designed by John Brothers (Walsall College of Art - Head of ceramics) who also produced the original clay model & mould.

• A Toby Jug is a pottery jug in the form of a seated person. Typically the seated figure is a heavy-set jovial man wearing 18th century attire: a long coat & a tricorn hat which forms a pouring spout.
• This actual Toby & handle are cast in seperate moulds & joined together by hand whilst the clay is still wet but firm to handle.

• The rustic glaze finish applied to the jug is similar to a mottled salt glaze effect. Please note glaze effects vary in the kiln making each pot unique. Glaze shades/results can vary between cream/creamy browns.
